Celebrating 30 years of investing in teachers and improving early literacy!
On September 8, our organization celebrated 30 years with a special Back-to-School Reading Festival at Smith Memorial Playground and Playhouse. Despite the rainy start, the event proved to be a great time! Many families across Philadelphia came joined us. Our guest authors, Rosemary Wells, Angela Dominguez, and Tad Hills gave rousing presentations; reading their signature titles, drawing favorite story characters, and giving us some insight in to their creative process. We even had a special visit from the School District of Philadelphia Superintendent Dr. Bill Hite. Lakeshore Learning, Fine Motor Boot Camp, and Family Fun Entertainment came out to support as well. There were plenty activities and take home crafts for the children, along with free books and school supplies. A few attendees even left lucky winners as we raffled off Philadelphia Phillies tickets.
We thank all our staff, the sponsors, the vendors, Smith Playground, our guest authors, and the families that attended. This event would not have been possible if not for you. We took tons of pictures during our event. Check them out!
For 30 years we have transformed and strengthened classrooms across the U.S., and for 30 years we have improved student outcomes by giving teachers high-impact instructional strategies.
Join us as we celebrate our 30th Anniversary and support our efforts for the next 30 years, as we continue to help children read at grade level by third grade. Help us ensure that teachers have the support they need to create powerful readers, writers, and thinkers.
