One of the most transformative moments in our partnership occurred when we leveraged our Core Service Model with one of our partners’ dedicated coaches. A first-grade boy, recently arrived in the U.S., was struggling with reading difficulties. Instead of immediately moving toward a Special Education evaluation, our coach collaborated closely with the student’s teacher to implement the Esperanza Literacy Curriculum, providing the targeted support he needed.
The coach recounts this breakthrough moment:
"After three months of focused small group instruction, the breakthrough came. Upon entering the classroom, I witnessed the young boy running towards me, exclaiming, 'yo puedo leer' – I can read. With immense pride, the student shared his success in passing the reading test and insisted on reading an EDL book aloud."
This moment is a powerful testament to the impact of our collaborative approach, demonstrating how tailored support and persistence can unlock a child’s potential and instill a lifelong love of reading.

George Washington Academy, a school within the district, received a certificate of recognition for the First Step NJ Safe Routes to School program and was listed among the Top 10 schools for growth in English Language Arts (ELA).
The establishment of a National Junior Honor Society and the implementation of the PBSIS (Positive Behavior Support in Schools) model further highlight the school’s strides in academic and social development. EPS credits CLI with playing a pivotal role in enhancing student learning and fostering a love for literacy in grades K-3.
The district’s commitment to bilingual education has been significantly strengthened through CLI’s involvement. A remarkable 100% of participants in the Bilingual Strategic Planning Meeting agreed on the positive impact of these initiatives, while over 88% of attendees at the General Education Professional Development Event focused on “Differentiated Small Group Instruction” found it highly beneficial.
