Children’s Literacy Initiative (CLI) is proud to partner with the University of Florida Lastinger Center for Learning’s New Worlds Reading Initiative. Together, we’re bringing Parent & Family Literacy Workshops and Community Literacy Events to families and caregivers across Central and Southeast Florida.
This partnership empowers parents, caregivers, and children to engage with literacy in meaningful and joyful ways, fostering lifelong reading success.
The goal of Parent and Family Workshops is to provide parents and caregivers with knowledge and confidence to support their child’s reading development and encourage meaningful engagement in literacy.
Workshops are focused on the science of reading and provide parents and caregivers with strategies, tips, and tools to support the development of their child’s cognitive skills, language, and comprehension. Workshops can be offered virtually or in-person and can be a one-time event or a series of events to facilitate the topics.
New Worlds Reading Regional Partners host community literacy events that includes literacy stations with books and activities for caregivers and students to engage with around literacy.
Hosting these events is an effective way for caregivers to monitor their children’s progress, continue to build a love for reading, and provide onsite support for eligible families to apply for the program at neworldsreading.com.
