Volunteers Pitch in to Celebrate Teachers

BROWARD COUNTY, FL

Just before the school year came to an end, CLI Broward had a very special surprise for its teachers. Initiated and coordinated by Broward advisory board member, Rachel Danzig, Broward coaches presented teachers with care packages during National Teachers Appreciation Week in recognition for their work throughout the year.
“After a visit to a CLI classroom in Broward I was very taken not only by the thought and structure that went into the set-up of the classroom, but the insight and dedication of the teachers. I left that classroom amazed at the literacy movement taking place so close to home and had to share the success with my family,” shares Danzig.
“My niece and teenage kids were determined to create something special for the teachers, to give back a little of the kindness and care that they are so diligently delivering to some of our most vulnerable students.”
The effort extended far beyond South Florida. Having collected and donated the supplies, Danzig’s niece and the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority at West Virginia University shipped the goodies to South Florida where local high school students then prepared the packages.
“This project was the least we could do. We are forever grateful for CLI and its amazing teachers.”
CLI extends gratitude to Rachel and all the volunteers who helped to make possible this special recognition for teachers.
