Children's Literacy Initiative (CLI) is hosting an interactive workshop tailored for kindergarten teachers, elevating your read-aloud practices through the lens of equity and inclusion.

At CLI, we recognize the books that we choose to use and make available in our classrooms shape the ways in which children make sense of their own and other’s racial, cultural, and linguistic identities; communicate messages around representation; and impact how children develop the ability to think critically and deeply about what and how they learn.
Join us for an interactive in-person workshop and discover how to choose books that mirror a tapestry of cultures, ensuring every child finds themselves in the stories. Learn the art of planning read-alouds that captivate young minds and cultivate higher-order thinking and language comprehension. These insights will help you guide your lesson planning and create an inclusive learning environment that celebrate diversity.

Uncover the transformative power of read-alouds in teaching diversity, empathy, inclusivity, and supporting language comprehension. Hosted on two separate days in March 2024, the expert-led session will unveil techniques for creating engaging, interactive, and inclusive read-aloud experiences that honor diverse viewpoints. Equip yourself with the tools and knowledge to make a lasting impact in your kindergarten classroom.
