Sliding into Summer

From the CEO - Joel Zarrow, Ph.D.

Now that we've successfully finished out the school year, we want to make the most of our summer time! Here at CLI, that means preparing for next school year with trainings, new content development, and building on the gains we've made this year.

Out of the classroom, summer is a great opportunity to work with our coaches to make sure we are able to provide high quality one-on-one coaching, which is proven to better equip teachers with the skills necessary to implement best practices in their classrooms. You can check out what else we’re preparing this summer on CLI's blog.

While we’re hard at work getting even better at what we do, we want to make sure students make the most of their summers. You may have heard the term “summer slide” from teachers or parents. Summer slide is what happens when the skills students learn during the school year are lost or forgotten over the summer. When children don’t read over the summer, they can fall 2 years behind by 5th grade. Take a look at our book recommendations below to prevent summer slide.

Together, we make a difference. Happy reading!

Congratulations and Thanks to Sam and Becca!

Sam and Becca got married in May. They included CLI in their celebration by asking guests to to make a donation as a wedding gift!

According to Sam, "When we were first dating, we shared books back and forth, discovering the lines and language that we each found beautiful. Becca introduced me to Walt Whitman and Henry David Thoreau; I introduced her to the poetry of T.S. Eliot and Billy Collins. Even now, we read and write in books to send one another."
