Jacksonville, FL - Last week, CLI’s CEO, Dr. Diana Greene, participated in a book fair hosted by the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH) as part of its 108th Annual Conference. The conference brings together educators, students, community builders, business professionals, and others who share an abiding interest in learning about the contribution of African Americans to this nation and the world.

While participating in the ASALH conference book giveaway, Dr. Greene spoke with a local ABC affiliate and shared insights about her new position with CLI and how CLI’s mission aligns with ASALH’s vision for young learners.
Florida state leadership has declared war on culturally diverse books and teaching, going as far as banning book titles that challenge an inequitable status quo. Organizations like ASALH are essential in spotlighting diverse texts and authors and getting these resources in the hands of children, families, and the broader community.

The well-attended community-centered event was an incredible opportunity to share in the love of reading and the amazing diversity of voices of our community.
